The interactions between habitat, sex, biomass and leaf traits of different willow (Salix) genotypes

چکیده
Abstract Knowledge of the impacts sex on plant mortality and biomass production has scientific practical importance. In case willows, we know relatively little about such effects. The main objective this study was to evaluate whether individuals different willow species determines their mortality. An additional goal determine secondary characteristics, as leaf traits, depend sex. experiment conducted from 2011 2014 with 8100 plants comprising 150 genotypes, including 8 species, 16 interspecies hybrids, cultivars, specimens differentiated by Statistical analysis traits revealed relationship On average, male have longer wider leaves. They also petioles. Males studied Salix genotypes were characterized higher showed a greater survival rate than females but only under better site conditions; when conditions poorer, males had females.

High yielding biomass genotypes of willow (Salix spp.) show differences in below ground biomass allocation
Willows (Salix spp.) grown as short rotation coppice (SRC) are viewed as a sustainable source of biomass with a positive greenhouse gas (GHG) balance due to their potential to fix and accumulate carbon (C) below ground. However, exploiting this potential has been limited by the paucity of data available on below ground biomass allocation and the extent to which it varies between genotypes. Furt...
متن کاملThe Study of Interactions between Active Compounds of Coffee and Willow (Salix sp.) Bark Water Extract
Coffee and willow are known as valuable sources of biologically active phytochemicals such as chlorogenic acid, caffeine, and salicin. The aim of the study was to determine the interactions between the active compounds contained in water extracts from coffee and bark of willow (Salix purpurea and Salix myrsinifolia). Raw materials and their mixtures were characterized by multidirectional antiox...
متن کاملHabitat specialization and the role of trait lability in structuring diverse willow (genus Salix) communities
The co-occurrence of closely related species is challenging to explain because biotic filters are expected to limit the ecological similarity of species within communities. To investigate the mechanisms important in facilitating species’ co-occurrence in diverse willow and poplar communities, we examined functional diversity and community phylogenetic structure along a hydrologic gradient. We f...
متن کاملExpression of zinc and cadmium responsive genes in leaves of willow (Salix caprea L.) genotypes with different accumulation characteristics
Salix caprea is well suited for phytoextraction strategies. In a previous survey we showed that genetically distinct S. caprea plants isolated from metal-polluted and unpolluted sites differed in their zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd) tolerance and accumulation abilities. To determine the molecular basis of this difference we examined putative homologues of genes involved in heavy metal responses and...
